Karl Stewart (Chair)

Karl Stewart was appointed Chair of the Golding Board in November 2009.  He brings to Golding a life time of experience in mining, executive and management leadership roles both in Australia and overseas.  He has worked for a number of large mining houses including MIM, Comalco, CRA and Rio Tinto.  For a period Karl was corporate General Manager personnel for Comalco Ltd and spent ten years as Managing Director of Comalco Smelting and its three separate JV smelting operations in Queensland, Tasmania and New Zealand.  Karl also served as  a board member of Australian Mines and Metals Association for almost ten years, for a period was its chair.  Since his retirement from Rio Tinto in 1997 Karl has provided executive management and technical consultancy services to companies in Australia and overseas.

Geoff Caton (CEO and Director)

Geoff Caton joined Golding in 2006 as General Manager Civil and in October 2009 was appointed CEO and subsequently Director of Golding in December 2009.  As a professional civil engineer Geoff has a career working in senior management roles both in the civil infrastructure and mining sectors. Prior to joining Golding, Geoff undertook a number of significant roles in the mining industry on the Bowen Basin including work for BHP at Blackwater and Goonyella Riverside and with Thiess at Burton and Curragh mine sites.

Cameron Buchanan (Director)

Cameron Buchanan has been Director of the company since the purchase of Golding by CHAMP Private Equity in early 2008. He is a Managing Director of CHAMP Private Equity and is responsible for all aspects of the investment process. His career has involved leadership of several significant Australian companies, as well as wide experience in corporate finance. He is currently also the Chairman of Manassen Foods Australia and was previously a Director of Australian Pacific Paper Products Pty Ltd and New Price Retail Pty Ltd.

Darren Smorgon (Director)

Darren Smorgon has been a Director of Golding since the purchase of the company by CHAMP Private Equity in early 2008. He is a Director of CHAMP Private equity, having been with CHAMP since 1999, and brings to Golding an extensive range of experience in the leadership of private equity backed companies in Australia and the USA. He has worked closely with Penrice Soda Products and is a Director of Australian Discount Retail Pty Ltd and also Study Group International.


Chris Greig (Director)

Chris Greig joined the Board of Directors in July 2008. He brings to Golding more than 20 years' experience as a senior manager for several high profile Australian and international resource, engineering and construction companies. He is currently General Manager - Projects for Ensham Resources. His also a Project Director for ZeroGen, a global leader in low emission energy technologies.


Martin Kriewaldt (Director)

Martin Kriewaldt joined the Board of Directors in November 2008. He is a professional company director with some 20 years experience. He is the President of the Institute of Company Directors (Queensland Division), Chairman of Opera Queensland and a director of Suncorp Metway Ltd, Oil Search Ltd, Campbell Brothers Ltd, Macarthur Coal Ltd and ImpediMed Ltd.  He has also served on the boards of a number of private companies and private equity investment companies.  Martin is a former Partner of Allen Allen & Hemsley (now Allens Arthur Robinson), specialising in construction, structuring, banking and insurance
                              law.
