Golding awarded Kirkwood Rd Stage 3 in Gladstone
12 January 2010
Gladstone Regional Council today awarded Golding the $17.5m contract for construction of Kirkwood Road Stage 3 in Gladstone.
Speaking following award of the project Golding CEO Mr Geoff Caton expressed his considerable satisfaction at being awarded the project following the competitive tender process.
“Golding continues to have a very good working relationship with Gladstone Regional Council.
"Having recently completed Kirkwood Rd Stage 2 and with the extension of Gladstone Airport runway currently under construction, this project enables Golding to further enhance our relationship with Gladstone Regional Council while being part of the ongoing development of the Gladstone region,” Mr Caton said.
Kirkwood Road Stage 3 will complete the ‘missing link’ for Gladstone’s Western Ring Road.
The 2.4km project will consist of a 2 lane arterial road with slow vehicle lanes traversing from the intersection of Glenlyon Road on the west of Gladstone to Benaraby Road on the east. There are three (3) Separable Portions within the contract.
The road corridor will abut St Stephens Lutheran College on the west traversing some undulating topography and crossing Toondoon Creek.
Other recent major civil projects undertaken by Golding include Rio Tinto's YAR2 project in Gladstone, the Forgan Bridge Duplication in Mackay and the Port of Airlie Marina at Airlie Beach in the Whitsundays.
