QGC Curtis Island Construction Dock
This project was for the initial site access and construction dock at Normandy Landing, Curtis Island. This project was owned and operated by the Queensland Gas Company (QGC) with Bechtel Australia as the EPCM Contractors.
Golding was awarded the contract, valued at $65 million, for the construction of the equipment and personnel off loading facility to service the QGC LNG plant on Curtis Island. The package of works involved a peak work force of approximately 60 personnel, marine works including 200 plus piles, fenders, a pontoon linkspan and walkways, onshore civil works including 65 000m3 of earthworks and 26 000 tonnes of rock.
Construction commenced in November 2010 and was completed in late October 2011.
QCLNG Temporary Mainland Facilities (Land)
This QCLNG project was for the design and construction of land based temporary mainland facilities in four locations in Gladstone. It consisted of four temporary facilities and buildings to support the transport of materials and workers to Curtis Island. These facilities were;
- RG Tanna - aggregate loading facility
- Auckland Point 1 - handling and temporary storage of freight and equipment - see image
- Auckland Point 2 - parking for the ferry terminal and induction facilities
- Alf O'Rourke Consolidating Facility - lay down area, long term parking and container storage
Golding worked for Bechtel and Queensland Gas Company (QGC) on this $42 million contract.
Works included design of all facilities, construction of pavements, storm water drainage, water reticulation, all permanent buildings, electrical, communications, security fencing, surfacing, access roads and ancillary items including a weigh bridge, truck wash facility and lighting.
Construction commenced in July 2010 and was completed in July 2011.
QCLNG Temporary Marine Facilities
This project was for the design and construction of temporary marine facilities in Gladstone at two locations proposed to support the Queensland Gas Company (QGC) LNG project on Curtis Island. Locations for these were;
- RG Tanna (aggregate loading facility)
- Auckland Point (Ro-Ro berths and ferry terminal) - see image
Works included the design and construction of marine and land piling, reinforce concrete works and pavements, linkspan pontoon, bridges, crane pads, aggregate loading facility and berthing structures.
Construction commenced in July 2010 and was completed in August 2011. Golding worked for Bechtel and Queensland Gas Company on this $53 million contract.
Marine Facilities for GLNG
The GLNG (Gladstone Liquefied Natural Gas) Mainland Facilities project involves the design and construction of loading and unloading facilities (land and marine) to support equipment and personnel engaged in the construction of the GLNG plant on Curtis Island. The facilities are located adjacent to RG Tanna Wharf and Auckland Point in Gladstone. Construction will involve the provision of two linkspans, marine piling, onshore civils and a peak work force of approximately 85 personnel. The $90 million contract was awarded as part of Santos' multi-billion dollar LNG project; the world's first project to convert coal seam gas (CSG) into LNG.
