Karl Stewart was appointed as Chairman of Golding in 2009. His experience in mining, executive and management leadership roles in Australia and overseas includes roles in the large mining houses of MIM, Comalco, CRA and Rio Tinto.
Among his leadership roles, Karl was a former Managing Director of Comalco Smelting and its individual joint venture smelting operations in Queensland, Tasmania and New Zealand.
For almost a decade, Karl served as a board member, and later Chairman, of the Australian Mines and Metals Association.
Since his retirement from Rio Tinto, he has provided executive management and technical consultancy services to companies in Australia and internationally.
CEO and Executive Director
As CEO, Geoff is ultimately responsible for all aspects of Golding’s business and implementing the group’s short and long term strategic plans.
Geoff’s background is in operations and project management. Before commencing with Golding as the Civil General Manager in 2006, he held various operational leadership roles in the Bowen Basin in Queensland. These included project management roles, with both a leading Australian mining contractor and one of the largest global mining companies.
Geoff holds an undergraduate qualification in Civil Engineering and Economics and post-graduate qualifications in management.
Cameron Buchanan has been a Non-Executive Director of Golding since CHAMP Private Equity acquired a controlling interest in Golding.
As the Brisbane-based Managing Director of CHAMP, Cameron is responsible for all aspects of the investment process.
As well as being on Golding’s Board, Cameron is currently a Director of Axieo and Non-Executive Director of the Princess Alexandra Research Foundation.
He was previously the Chairman of Manassen Foods Australia and LCR Group, and Director of Australian Pacific Paper Products and New Price Retail.
Martin Kriewaldt is a professional company director with over 20 years of experience. He joined the Golding Board as a Non-Executive Director in 2008.
Formerly a partner of Allen Allen & Hemsley (now Allens Arthur Robinson), Martin specialised in construction, structuring, banking and insurance law.
Currently Chairman of Hyne Timber, Martin has been Chairman of Suncorp, Infratil Australia, Suncorp Property Trust, Brisbane Airtrain, LJ Hooker, Knight Frank and Opera Queensland.
He is a former Director of ImpediMed, Oil Search, Macarthur Coal, Suncorp Metway, Campbell Brothers, GWA International, QDL and Peptech, and a past President of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (Queensland).
