Curragh Coal Mine

The Curragh Mine is an open cut mine located in the Bowen Basin, approximately 10 km north of Blackwater in central Queensland.

The Mine produces a variety of high quality low-ash met coal products for export and thermal coal for domestic use. Curragh has been operating since 1983 and in 2017 was the sixth largest met coal mine in Australia by met coal production.

Golding have successfully provided a variety of operate and maintain solutions to Coronado which have led to two contract extensions since the original award in 2014. Coronado have recognised Golding’s ability to consistently deliver value for money and ability to collaborate by committing to a fourth mining fleet in 2019.

Golding’s production levels for FY20 are expected to near 40million bcm of coal and waste.

Together with Coronado, Golding have always had a clear focus on safety, productivity and continuous improvement. The Curragh Mine achieved its best safety performance on record in 2018 in which Golding played a significant role in assisting Coronado to achieve.
