Isaac Plains Coal Mine operations

Isaac Plains Coal Mine is owned by Stanmore IP Coal Pty Ltd (Stanmore). The mine  is located approximately 180km South West of Mackay, Queensland, 172km by rail from the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal and 7km east of the township of Moranbah, in Central Queensland’s Bowen Basin Coal province.  The open cut mine produces both coking and thermal coal types and has utilised dragline, bulk dozer push and truck shovel mining methods.

Challenging commodity markets presented an exceptional opportunity for Stanmore to acquire the Isaac Plains mine to initiate lower cost operations and become an independent producer of high quality coking coal for export to the steel industry. The first coal shipment from Isaac Plains is scheduled for April 2016, creating approximately 150 new jobs in the Moranbah region.

From January 2016, Golding has been contracted to deliver waste removal, coal mining and coal processing operations for a term of three years. Stanmore remains responsible for the provision of certain principal supplied plant (e.g. dragline and coal handling and preparation plant) and certain services (e.g. power, water and accommodation).

Golding has been appointed as head contractor, responsible for mine site and management including statutory roles, and will deliver all site activities including blasting,  overburden  removal,  coal  mining,  coal  processing,  and train  load  out.  Golding provides truck and shovel fleets, ancillary equipment, and operational personnel..

Overburden removal is conducted with a truck and excavator fleet, bulk dozerpush and a BE1370 dragline. Coal mining is conducted with a truck and excavator fleet. Golding has engaged and experienced subcontractor to conduct CHPP operations.

The mine will initially produce about 1.1 million tonnes of product coal per annum.
