Baralaba coal train load out

The construction of a new 5.5km Rail Loop and Train Load Out facility located near Moura was required to facilitate the increase in coal exports from the Baralaba Coal Mine.

Golding delivered all Civil works for Baralaba Coal to construct the new facility, including extensive earthworks and road works across the site. New borrow pits were established with additional material used from the excavation and construction the Stormwater Retention Dam (46ML), Raw Water Dam (36mL), major Sediment Trap (2.8ML), and excavations for the Reclaim Tunnel and Escape Tunnel. Flexible pavement construction of sealed and unsealed finishes covers most of the area including the Mine Industrial Area, Truck and Delivery hardstands, new Haul Roads, Product and Stacker Pads, and general access roads. Extensive drainage channels and culverts were installed, along with new level crossings, gas line protection works, erosion protection, curve monuments, fencing, signage, and a buffer stop.

The project footprint encompassed discreet habitats of endangered native species unique to the region, which required comprehensive terrestrial ecology and water quality management monitoring and protection programs.

On completion, the site was handed back to Baralaba Coal who constructed the new rail line, plus the mechanical and electrical Train Load out.
