Daunia Mine

Daunia Coal Mine in the Bowen Basin near Moranbah is the ninth coal mine built by BMA. Golding successfully delivered two infrastructure projects to prepare the mine for operation: a contract for bridges and crossings; and a contract for civil works.
The scope for the bridges and crossings contract involved:
- 70m-wide and 46m-long (three spans of 13m, 20m and 13m) rail overpass bridge
- Three 15m bridges
- Conveyor reclaim tunnel and load-out facilities bulk earthworks
- Temporary public access road around rail bridge and a permanent access road under the rail bridge
- Concrete works and associated civil works at the reclaim tunnel exit to the conveyor load-out facilities
- Product conveyor service roads with the Millennium Rail Loop
- Erosion control structures
- New fishway passage culverts and baffle installation
- New light-vehicle access road and upgrade of an existing one.
The scope for the civil works included:
- 1,300,000t of pavement materials
- 3,000,000m3 of earthworks
- 3,200m2 of RE walls
- Eight dams
- 50km of pipes and conduits
